IELTS Exam Pattern for Reading

The Reading section assesses a candidate's ability to comprehend written texts and extract information from a range of sources. It consists of three long passages taken from books, newspapers, magazines, or online sources. The total duration of the Reading section is 60 minutes.

  • There are 40 questions divided into three sections.
  • The questions include multiple-choice, sentence completion, matching information, True/False/Not Given, and identifying the writer's views/claims.
  • The passages gradually increase in complexity, with the third passage being the most challenging.
